The special investigation team constituted to probe into Danish Embassy explosion has failed to conclude yet whether it was a suicide attack or remote-controlled explosion.
But the investigators have reached the conclusion during their preliminary investigation that potassium and ball bearings were used in the explosion along with 20 to 30-kg explosive, police source said here on Tuesday. This was the reason that the body of the suicide bomber was decomposed in small parts recovered from the blast site.
The investigators were able to only find engine of the car used in the explosion, which is not enough to further move forward, police sources said here on Tuesday. They said the team constituted to probe the car bomb explosion outside the Danish Embassy has started its work. The team members have begun examination of the evidences and other samples collected from the site. The explosive and material used in the blast was also sent for forensic examination.
The seven-member team headed by FIA Additional Director General Mirza Muhammad Yaseen, includes SIG Deputy Commodore Liaqat Ali Khan, ICT SSP (Security) Nadeem Khan, CID SP Sajid Kayani and one representative each from the FIA, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), and the Intelligence Bureau (IB) will provide its preliminary report within 36 hours. It will submit the final report within 15 days. It is pertinent to note that a car bomb explosion outside the Danish Embassy has resulted in killing of eight people and injured 25 others.
