Engineer Javed Salim Qureshi has said that government should remove the condition of 35 percent cash margin on L/C imposed by State Bank. He said that after severe crisis of electricity, water, seeds and fertilisers, now a new crisis of pesticides is developing.
While talking to Business Recorder, here on Tuesday, he said that Pakistan is an agriculture country but unfortunately no attention has been paid to this sector. He said that no solid policies have been made that's why we are facing food crisis. Only agriculture sector could take out from this crisis, he added. He said that 70 percent people are related with agriculture sector and a full crop is achieved after every six months, which could strengthen our economy.
Javed Qureshi said that a large portion of GDP is acquired through agriculture. He appealed to Prime Minister, Chief Minister Punjab and especially provincial Agriculture Minister Malik Ahmad Ali Aolakh to make friendly farmers policies to save the country from crisis.
The strategy to build small dams including main Kala Bagh Dam to tackle the energy crisis should be adopted. These projects should be practically started instead of keeping them in the files. He said that farmers should be given agriculture loans on easy terms and conditions and the rate of wheat and cotton should be fixed according to the international market so that farmers should come back in sowing these crops.
