Secretary General, Asian Productivity Organisation, (APO) Japan is schedule to arrive on Thursday, (June 5) on 3-day visit to Pakistan. He will remain in the country till June 07, said a press release of National Productivity Organisation (NPO) here on Tuesday. This is the first-ever high profile visit of any Head of APO in the eight years.
He is likely to pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister. The APO Secretary General, during his stay, will meet the Advisor, Secretary, Senior Joint Secretary, CEO-NPO of Ministry of Industries and Production, Secretary, Minfal, Chairman Parc to review various projects.
He will also review the effective implementation of the recommendations made by the international experts during the programmes being hosted in twenty member countries by the respective NPOs in collaboration with Asian Productivity Organisation, Japan.
The Secretary General also plans to meet heads of Chamber in Islamabad and APTMA during his short stay in Lahore besides visiting historical places, the press release added. Asian Productivity Organisation (APO) was formed under UN constitution in 1961 with its secretariat at Tokyo, Japan, to address productivity related economic issues in Asian economies.
Pakistan is one of the first signatories and founding member of APO. Twenty countries from Asia and Pacific regions are members of APO. The APO, with the assistance of National Productivity Organisations, of each member country covers industry, service and agriculture sectors with special focus on socio-economic progress through productivity enhancement, strengthening of SMEs, total quality management, general management, innovation and technology, green productivity, energy efficiency, agriculture development and agro-industry. In addition, it supports in research and development, study meetings, technical expert services, multi-country support programmes, training and consultancy and information dissemination.
