Meanwhile, the governor has underlined a more efficient role in the Mobile Hospital Program in Fata, saying that the program could play a significant role in filling up the gap by providing health services to the people of remote tribal areas. He directed the Fata health department to expand the coverage and activities of the Program and ensure that mobile medical camps are held in every Agency and FR regularly.
Owais Ahmed Ghani made these observations during a briefing on the Fata Mobile Hospital Program at the Governor's House here on Tuesday. Fata Health Director Dr Muhammad Zubair Khan briefed the governor on the program. The governor also inspected the Mobile Hospital, comprising vehicles, fitted with state of the art medical equipment and other facilities.
The governor during inspection made certain queries about the performance of the Hospital. He appreciated the efforts of the Fata Directorate for providing efficient and latest medical facilities to the people of remote tribal areas through its Mobile Hospital Program. The Fata Mobile Hospital Program was initially started with eight vehicles in 2003-04, but later on six vehicles were added to the fleet and the program was upgraded from initial one to three units to cover entire Fata. Now the program has 14 well-equipped vehicles, containing three Dental Units, three Diagnostic Units, one Gynecology Unit, two OT Units, three Support Units, one generator and one staff bus.
The governor was informed that the Mobile Hospital Program provides primary and secondary levels health care services through scheduled medical camps all over Fata at approved sites thus reducing burden of disease and patient rush at secondary and tertiary level hospitals. Since November 2006, more than 0.103 million patients have been examined and treated for which 3,560 investigations and 230 operations were performed.
