Breton was first established in 1963 by Marcello Toncelli, who perceived the enormous potential in developing a market which was absolutely innovative and at the time practically unexplored: developing new technologies and manufacturing industrial plants for producing compound stone.
Since the beginning of its activity Breton has also dedicated itself to manufacturing machines and plants for processing natural stone.
The founder's farsighted entrepreneurship and his enormous aptitude for developing innovating ideas were the assets that enabled the company to rapidly grow becoming in a just few years an industrial reality in the foreground, and later to become the world market leader.
Around the mid 90's the company decided to move into the new market of the fabrication of numerical control machining centres for application in the mechanical industry, and in a very short period of time Breton became one of the most important manufacturers in this industry at a world level. Today Breton S.p.A. is under the control of Luca and Dario Toncelli, who presently run the company with the collaboration of the founder's long-time partner, Roberto Chiavacci, who holds the office of Vice President of the Board of Directors.
Breton is dedicated to research. Research and Development are the keys to Breton's success. Its chemical-physical laboratory and its mechanical and electronic design departments create and develop new ideas for products, processes and manufacturing technologies.

Creativity and freedom always have been pursued by man in any field and activity.In the stone field normally creativity and freedom have been always limited because it's the nature that is deciding almost all the characteristics of the final products (ie colour, strength, ....); man activity in this field was mainly dedicated on discovering new materials and quarries.Today, with the innovative Breton Compound Stone technologies all the above barriers and limitation has been totally overcome.
Breton Compound Stone technologies finally are giving to the architects and designers the power to project the exact material characteristics they need for any specific application: perfect uniform strength in all the mass, any possible color looking, perfect color repeatability at any moment, any thin or even thick thickness, very high resistances, wear resistance, UV resistances, chemical resistance, fire resistance, stain resistance, ice resistance, anti-bacterial (......), and also the possibility to decide the quantity to manufacture every day/month/year and the exact time when to have it at disposal.
In few words by using the above Breton Compound Stone technologies finally we get a modern and perfect industrial production system also in the stone field. Breton Compound Stone technologies are using very common and cheap raw materials (marble, granite or quartz grits, sands and powders bonded with normal Portland cement or polyester resin); its composition is of about 95% of grits and just 5% of binding agent (cement or resin).
It's also possible to use or to add other stone and non-stone materials which are both original and extravagant (mother of pearl, lapis lazuli, shells, glass, mirrors, gems, (....) giving to the finished product it beauty and uniqueness. Breton Compound Stone plants are giving to the investors the confidence of a very quickly pay-back period for the investment and of a very good profits even from the very beginning periods.
The evidence of the above statement are the about more than 80 plants already working with success in about 40 different countries worldwide, the continue requests of additional lines from our existing customers and the currently about 40 million of square meter per year of Breton Compound Stone products that are installed everywhere in the world and especially in the most prestigious places. Many airport, underground stations, Commercial Centres, banks, hospitals, schools, hotels (one of the most prestigious is the Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai), residential homes, ... have installed successfully (for flooring, for cladding and for countertops) Breton Compound Stone products.
Breton Compound Stone technologies are also environmentally friendly; the technology need for 95-96 % of its contents just some simple crushed waste stone left over in quarries or from natural stone beds. No new quarries are necessary to open and so no more defacing of the environment is requested.
When using outside cladding with Breton Compound Stone products bonded with cement, due to the photo-catalytic phenomena created by direct contact of the product surfaces with the UV rays, the Nox level of the environment (ie all the dangerous nitric oxides we've in all our towns which create the smog) will quickly damp; it has been verified that about 1.000 sqm of surface is able to clean an air volume of about 200.000 m3 in about 10 hours of sun.
Because this characteristic then the products surfaces will also remain very clean without the need be no need to be periodically cleaned and the surfaces will remain also microbes free. All the market researches, from the west coast of USA across the globe to the Asian coasts of the pacific basin are showing that in the next years the market shares of these new products will continue to increase.
