Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad has said that country's present internal and external situations do not allow to create any kind of confrontation and added that President Pervez Musharraf has always worked for the betterment of the nation and country.
This he said, while talking to journalists at the Dargah of Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ashabi at Makli, district Thatta, where he arrived to offer Fateha before attending seminar on "Role of Ombudsman in checking maladministration" and performing inauguration of Regional Office of Ombudsman at Thatta on Wednesday night.
Responding a question about impeachment of the President, he said, it involves not only legal and constitutional intricacies but also requires a certain votes in both Houses of the parliament. To another question, the governor Sindh said that though the PML (Q) has got less number of seats in assemblies but it has good public support in term of votes cast in last election.
The Sindh governor said that government was working hard to provide easy justice to the common man under access to justice programme of the government and added that the network of Ombudsman's regional/sub-offices has been extended up to 13 districts of the province not only to check the maladministration but to provide easy and early justice at grass roots level.
He said that concerned administration has been directed to ensure all basic facilities available at all shrines of the Sindh for the devotees. Later, addressing the seminar, the Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad said that before 2004, there were only three regional offices of Ombudsman in interior Sindh with one head office at Karachi, but today the number of the regional offices has been raised up to 13 and added that establishment of four new regional offices in interior Sindh were in pipeline.
He disclosed that finally all districts would have the regional office of Ombudsman. He said that the purpose of spreading the organisational network of Ombudsman was to ensure speedy and easy justice to the common people. The Sindh governor stressed the need of creating public awareness not only to avail this facility by every victim of the society but also to identify maladministration in governmental organisations so that action could be initiated against the defaulters.
The Ombudsman Sindh Asad Ashraf Malik said that in the near future, four new regional offices one each at Ghotki, Tando Allahyar, Jamshoro and Khairpur districts would be established. He said that government has planned to extend the organisational network at each district headquarter of the province and also considering to expand it up to Taluka level in second phase.
He said that his management has arranged different seminars on the topics of "social evils" which include eradication of Karo-Kari and menace of child labour, bonded labour and shortage of irrigation water to create awareness among the masses and make this programme more success.
The former Ombudsman and presently Advisor to Sindh Governor, Yousuf Jamal in his address said that good governance was the only solution to social as well as administrative problems.
He advised that the organisational network of Ombudsman not only be extended up to Taluka level but mobile justice programme should also be launched to ensure easy and early justice at grass roots level. He said that effective awareness campaign was very much essential to get public support and make this programme successful.
