The organising committee of 2nd International Shaikh Ayaz Conference on Language and Literature has launched website of Shaikh Ayaz International Conference in a bid to mark 2008 as International Language Year as per the announcement of General Assembly of United Nations, here on Thursday at its meeting.
The meeting was presided over by Vice Chancellor Sindh University and Chief Patron of the organising committee, Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, who also performed the formal launching of the website. The ceremony was attended by members of the committee including heads of different departments of Faculty of Arts of the university.
The four-day conference is being organised by the Faculty of Arts from November 7 to 10, 2008 under theme of " Languages Matter". Speaking on the occasion Professor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui appreciated the efforts of the Arts Faculty for organising the second International Conference on Language and Literature.
He hoped that the website would provide all sort of information to scholars of the national and international community regarding the conference. Chairman organising committee and Dean Faculty of Arts Dr M.Qasim Bughio informed the meeting that launching of Shaikh Ayaz International Conference on Language and Literature is aimed at to mark 2008 as International year of Languages.
He said that introduction material related to Sindh, Sindh University and the conference has been posted on the website. Dr Bughio said that last date for the acceptance of the abstracts of paper, proposal of paper or paper to committee has been fixed as July, 31.
He said that a peer review committee is to be formed which would be comprised scholars from Pakistan, USA, Malaysia and UK. The meeting also approved official websites for scholars to contact through at the address [email protected] or [email protected].
