The founder of the Awami Muslim League and outspoken political leader Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that his party has planned to hold countrywide protests against escalating price hike after the budget.
Addressing his maiden press conference in Lahore after the launch of Awami Muslim League on Friday, the former federal minister said that the negative statements of the leaders of 'ruling junta' led to depreciation in Pak rupee value against dollar.
He said political leaders had foreign accounts whose values increased by 15 percent with slide in the local currency value. Rashid, who is considered President Pervez Musharraf's close aide, said that Musharraf is now no more an issue because he (Musharraf) is not a hurdle for any body.
Answering a question, Rashid said that he has neither any factory nor he is a tax evader. He, however, said that some people inherit leadership while some become leaders only because of their status and wealth.
To a query, Rashid reiterated that he was never part of the Lal Masjid operation while the nation had already punished the PML-Q government for its mistakes in handling the matter. When asked about his predictions, he claimed that the months of September and October will be "killing months" for the countrymen in terms of crises.
He further said that present regime is only talking about the judges and President Pervez Musharraf while real issues are being set aside. Talking about the constitutional package, Rashid said it is mere a lengthy document having mixture of suggestions and amendments while the ruling clique has failed to even finalise it. He regretted that hatred is being created in the society. Answering a question, he claimed that he is not seeing long tenure of sitting assemblies.
