At least thirteen persons including three women have died of heat stroke as temperature swelled to 43 degree Celsius in Southern Punjab while ten to 12 hours power load shedding added to the miseries.
Health authorities have confirmed the death of 13 persons and said that an Assistant Sub Inspector Police, Muhammad Sarwar, Abdul Sattar (45) and Sahiban Bibi of Chak No 212/GB have died in Chiniot (Jhang district), Muhammad Kashif (14) and Muhammad Bakhsh (45) died in Lodhran, Liaquat Ali (48), Noor Ahmed (70) and Mst Sharifan (40) in Sahiwal, sixty year old Rehmat Bibi and a labourer Mehmood Ahmed died in Sargodha, Wali Muhammad of Chak No 45 and five year old son of Muhammad and a drug addict died in Chak No 70/north.
Met office forecast dry and hot weather during next 24 hours in southern Punjab. However, rain can be expected in couple of days. Professor Dr Laiq Hussain Siddiqui, Principal of Nishtar Medical College Multan said, "we are receiving reports of heat-related casualties daily and thirteen persons have died during last 24 hours." People should use maximum water and they should not expose to sun without covering their head.
