The Department of Gender Studies, Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) organised a documentary exhibition and poster display on Friday. More than 49 students participated in the event while the Chairperson, Department of Communication Sciences, Dr Shamim Zaidi, Chairperson, Department of Mathematics, Dr Suriya Jabeen, and Chairperson, Department of Gender Studies Dr Rukhsana Hasan were the members of the jury.
The posters and documentaries exhibited in the event were the final projects of the students for the course of 'Women in Media' under the supervision of Dr Rukhsana Hasan. The theme of the posters displayed in the exhibition was 'Child Labour and Domestic Violence' while the topics of the documentaries included the issues of women's begging, lady wardens, khanabadosh, begging, crises centres, women empowerment, dowry, conditions of brick industry workers, mental disorder in women, life of nurses, life and issues of rural women.
The documentaries were interesting and thought provoking especially those on women's empowerment and dowry attracted the audience largely. Handmade posters were displayed in the exhibition and received high appreciation form the visitors.
