The Chief Justice, Lahore High Court (LHC), Justice Sayed Zahid Hussain has said that the former Chief Justice, late Sardar Muhammad Iqbal was an institution within himself. 'Late CJ was a remarkable human being and every aspect of his life is a role model for others.
He was an ideal student, professional lawyer, able teacher, God-fearing person, good administrator and an impartial judge', he said.
His comments came through message readout in a condolence reference held in memory of late Sardar Iqbal in a hotel under the aegis of Human Rights Society of Pakistan (HRSP) on Sunday.
The message was readout as the Chief Justice, LHC could not attend the ceremony due to his preoccupations. Justice Sayed Zahid Hussain also said in his message that the late CJ was a great protector of human rights and the quality featured in his judgements.
'Late Sardar Iqbal was a great person who has left sweet memories in our minds. Judges do not speak but their judgements. Like the late CJ who served the profession and the deserving humanity silently'. Further, 'He was the chairman of a welfare trust and patronised several hospitals without any publicity. His life was a sacred trust of God as well as human beings. He upheld the element of simplicity and devotion in the profession of law till his death", said the written message.
The Chairman, HRSP, SM Zafar, Senior Vice Chairman, Mehnaz Rafi, Professor Sheikh Imtiaz Ahmad, Professor Meera Felbous, Sardar Shahid Iqbal, Aleema Ayyaz, former Supreme Court Judge, Khalil-ur-Rehman Khan, former President, Pakistan, former Justice Muhammad Rafiq Tarar, Federal Secretary, Ismail Qureshi, former Justice AS Islam, Dr Abdul Aziz, Professor Humayun Ehsan, Dr Mujahid Kamran, Anees Fatima Majeed, former Justice and others also addressed the condolence reference.
