Sindh Minister for Wildlife Dr Daya Ram Essurani has said that persons having love and affection for the wildlife of Sindh would be appointed as honorary district wardens in all the districts of the province.
Talking to various delegations of Jamshoro district at his office on Monday, he said that previous honorary wardens were appointed on political grounds and they had no interest in protecting the rich and diverse wildlife of Sindh. Their non-serious attitude resulted in deterioration of fauna and flora throughout the province, he added.
Dr Ram said that present democratic government was attaching to priority for conservation of Sindh Ibex and Urial, for which many areas of Jamshoro district have been declared as protected areas, he informed the delegates.
Minister said that Rs 499.9 million Kirthar Protected Area Complex (KPAC) Project would be started from July that was aimed at protecting and preserving Sindh's diverse wildlife for our next generations.
Community participation would also be ensured in this regard to make this project successful, he added. On complaints of illegal trophy hunting in various game reserves of the province, provincial minister said that officers and staff of the department have been warned to desist from allowing such acts otherwise stern action would be taken against them.-PR
