The business community of Lahore has congratulated Shahbaz Sharif on his unopposed election as Punjab chief minister after he secured a vote of confidence with a thumping majority on Monday. Office holders of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, including President Muhammad Ali Mian said Shhbaz's victory proved that the public rejected the policies of the previous regime for the sake of progress and prosperity.
They assured LCCI full cooperation to the newly elected chief minister in coping with economic challenges being faced by the government and the business community. They also hoped the new chief minister, unlike the past regime, would evolve all the business-related policies in consultation with the real stake holders.
They also appreciated the new chief minister for the given roadmap and prioritising the matters of immediate attention including putting an end to injustice, literacy, poverty and corruption. Pakistan Industrial and Traders Associations Front (PIAF) chairman Mian Abuzar Shad congratulating Mian Shahbaz Sharif has said that his induction as provincial chief would help convert Punjab into a land of peace, opportunities and a hub of business activities.
Mian Shahbaz Sharif being a proven track record as an excellent administrator is well-versed with the problems being faced by the common man in general and the business community in particular, will take measures to provide relief to the common man.
He urged the newly elected Chief Minister to give priority to provision of conducive atmosphere, good law and order situation, excellent justice system and an encroachment-free province.
Shad said that due to the wrong policies of the previous regime, the whole nation was suffering. On the one hand the business community was facing acute power shortage while on the other it was fast losing global market due to high input cost.
To overcome power shortage, the newly elected Chief Minister could come-up with the idea of building small power generating units at canals or by stopping unnecessary utilisation of electricity during the peak hours. Chairman Pakistan Association of Auto-parts Exporters, Tahir Javed Malik has termed Shahbaz election as a victory of patriotic forces.
