Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Wednesday strongly condemned an attack inside Pakistani territory by United States-led coalition forces stationed in Afghanistan, killing many civilians and troops.
Responding to a point of order by an opposition member in the National Assembly ahead of the budget presentation, Gilani said his government stood for the sovereignty of the country. "We stand for the sovereignty, dignity and the self-respect of the country and we will not allow anybody repeat such things," he added.
He said he had immediately directed the foreign office to lodge a strongest protest to the Nato forces and vowed not to let anybody use Pakistani soil. At least 11 paramilitary troops were killed when coalition forces launched an air strike in Mohmand tribal agency along with Afghan border.
It was one of the series of such attacks Nato forces deployed in Afghanistan had carried out inside Pakistan to hunt down whom they usually refer as al Qaeda fugitives. Gilani said Pakistan government was opposed to such unilateral action and would raise the issue at all platforms. Earlier, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) Amir Muqam demanded of the government to condemn the attack and warned coalition forces not to repeat this.
