Taking serious notice of water shortage in various sector of Township scheme, Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director General Irfan Ali has directed for installation of two new tubewells in sectors B1 and C1. He passed these instructions while listening to complaints of residents of Wasa service area, regarding water supply and sanitation, on telephone.
Wasa Managing Director Dr Javed Iqbal and officials concerned were present at this occasion. A total of 23 complaints regarding faulty sewer and water supply lines were received.
These entire grievances were rectified by the agency. Wasa officials personally visited the complainants and took practical steps in this regard. He will again receive phone calls at following telephone numbers, 9201501 and 9201502, from 8.00am to 9.00am on Friday.
The existing tube-wells in these sectors of Township, installed about 18 years ago by the Housing and Physical Planning Department, had outlived and become rusty. Low pressure of water and power-cuts had further aggravated the problem.
Meanwhile, Staff of the Estate Management Directorate of Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has carried out a clean-up operation in the Shadman market and confiscated four goods lorries causing nuisance for free movement of the vehicles and pedestrians in the locality.
The Punjab government had already declared the market a model area. The LDA staff removed all the counters, machines, tables, chairs, gas cylinders, fridge, refrigerators and other things that had been kept on corridors and roads in the market. They also issued notices for the removal of 12 encroachments within two day, warning their owners against an action by the LDA staff on the expiry of this deadline.
The staff of the Town Planning Wing of LDA demolished the under-construction second storey of a house in Allama Iqbal Town built without getting approval from the LDA. The staff also stopped installation of a mobile phone tower that was being erected in Zeenat Block in Allama Iqbal Town.
