Sindh National Front (SNF) Chief Sardar Mumtaz Ali Bhutto Thursday criticised the federal budget for fiscal year 2008-09 as saying all promises made by the PPP government to end price hike and unemployment had proved fail. No funds in the budget have been allocated to overcome inflation, water shortage and power crisis.
The subsidies on wheat, oil and electricity have been cut, which could add to the price hike, Mumtaz Bhutto said in a statement. He said no one would believe in the figures of budget, as the government has taken not a single action against the killing of PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto. He said that a major amount of the budget had usually been earmarked for defence, debt payments and assemblies, while the poor class had been ignored.
Mumtaz Bhutto said that the important sectors like education, health and law and orders had been ignored of due funds in the budget as a very meagre amount had been allocated in this regard, which was the matter of great concern. SNF chief said that Finance Commission has been retained and funds allocated for controversial schemes like Thal Canal project. He said that nothing had been allocated for poor people. Benazir Income Support program to provide Rs 1000 to poor is also a bid to make people beggars, he said.
