Pakistan Peoples Party's (PPP) MNA Farzana Raja, while expressing the hope for earlier restoration of deposed judges, said 70 percent process in this connection had already been completed. The MNA, also the Information Secretary of her party in Punjab, was talking to a private television channel on Thursday night.
She said that increase in the number of Supreme Court judges was an agreed matter between the two major coalition partners, adding the PML-N Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif was on record to accept this change.
She said the Murree declaration was based on two major things; restoration of judges and promotion of reconciliatory culture in society, and her party was working in both the areas. The deposed judges were first released and their salaries had also been delivered, she said. To a questions she said the constitutional package was yet a document of proposals and the suggestions of the coalition partners would be accommodated.
However, the decision would be made in the Parliament, she said, adding the option to restore the deposed judges through resolution was also open. With regard to President's impeachment the PPP has a clear stance, the MNA said explaining her party didn't want to indulge in politics of confrontation. She said the PPP didn't accept the constitutional status of President Musharraf but it would follow the path of constitution in this regard.
She said when the coalition government would have the support of required number of parliamentarians it would go for the impeachment decision. In the meantime it was trying to create a balance between the institutions, she added. She said that in politics there was a time to do certain things and a decision taken on a suitable time yields positive results.
