River Indus is in low flood at Tarbela with a discharge of 285,000 cusecs and river Kabul in medium flood at Nowshera with a discharge of 72,200 cusecs, Flood Forecasting Centre (FFC) said here on Friday.
The FFC said that due to penetration of monsoon current from Arabian Sea, scattered thunderstorm/rain with heavy falls at isolated places might occur in Kashmir, NWFP, northern and north-eastern Punjab. Isolated dust thunderstorm rain is also expected over southern Punjab and coastal areas of south-eastern Punjab.
Agriculture experts say that these early light rains were very useful for sugarcane and fodder crops as the country was facing 30 to 40 percent shortage of water for the Kharif crops.
