River Indus is in low flood at Tarbela with a discharge of 285,000 cusecs and river Kabul in medium flood at Nowshera with a discharge of 72,200 cusecs, Flood Forecasting Centre (FFC) said here on Friday.
The FFC said that due to penetration of monsoon current from Arabian Sea, scattered thunderstorm/rain with heavy falls at isolated places might occur in Kashmir, NWFP, northern and north-eastern Punjab. Isolated dust thunderstorm rain is also expected over southern Punjab and coastal areas of south-eastern Punjab.
Agriculture experts say that these early light rains were very useful for sugarcane and fodder crops as the country was facing 30 to 40 percent shortage of water for the Kharif crops.
THE POSITION OF THE RIVER INFLOWS/OUTFLOWS AT TARBELA, MANGLA AND CHASHMA, ALONG WITH THE RESERVOIR LEVELS AND THE BARRAGES ON FRIDAY MORNING WAS AS UNDER:
-- Indus at Tarbela: Inflows 285,200 cusecs and Outflows 150,000 cusecs.
-- Kabul at Nowshera: Inflows 72,200 cusecs and outflows 72,200 cusecs.
-- Indus at Chashma: Inflows 214,700 cusecs and outflows 225,000 cusecs.
-- Jhelum at Mangla: Inflows 51,700 cusecs and outflows 25.000 cusecs.
-- Chenab at Marala: Inflows 84,600 cusecs and outflows 55,900 cusecs.
-- Jinnah barrage: Inflows 221,000 cusecs and outflows 212,500 cusecs.
-- Chashma: Inflows 214,700 cusecs and outflows 225,000 cusecs.
-- Taunsa: Inflows 213,200 cusecs and outflows 183,200 cusecs.
-- Guddu: Inflows 155,600 cusecs and outflows 121.100 cusecs.
-- Sukkur: Inflows 103,300 cusecs and outflows 43,500 cusecs.
-- Kotri: Inflows 24,260 cusecs and outflows Nil.

-- Tarbela: 1463.28 feet; live storage 2.489 million acre feet (MAF) and dead level 1369.00 feet (maximum level 1550).
-- Mangla: 1,148.65 feet; live storage 2.028 MAF and dead level 1,040 feet (maximum level 1,202).
-- Chashma: 645.60 feet; live storage 0.218 MAF and dead level 637 feet.
