People belonging to various walks of life have urged upon the political leaders that they should shun the politics of confrontation and work for the larger national interest of the country.
They further stated that political leaders of PPPP and PML-N are holding meetings for formulating a agenda for the revival of deposed judges but it was very unfortunate that both leaders have totally ignored the problems being confronting by the country and these problems are multiplying with every passing day.
Through consensus and debates in the parliament all burning issues could be resolved because parliament is the best forum for the purpose and it will indicate the supremacy of the parliament, they added. The hard fact is that the common man is least interested with lawyers' long-march, democracy and revival of deposed judges, they said.
Lashing out at some leading television channels they alleged that these channels are playing their instrumental role in jumbling the facts for creating chaos through negative reports and talk shows and it seems that these TV channels had become the mouthpiece of some political parties.
They urged upon these channels to work for enhancing the prestige and image of the country in their programmes for the larger national interest. The print and electronic media should concentrate on the promotion of national spirit among the masses through their reports because at present the tendency of national spirit is at lowest ebb in our nation, they said.
Everybody is fully aware that at present the country was passing through a very grave juncture but some leaders are busy in undermining the national interests by mud-slinging on some political parties which will ultimately develop a tug of war among the political parties.
It is the time that political leaders should adopt highly flexible attitude and focus on developing consensus on various burning national issues and bringing out the country from the crisis as well as to control price hike. The winning parties should show the flexibility and try to open dialogue with the ignored political parties for discussing their agenda, priorities and future agenda of coalition government.
The impeachment of President Pervez Musharraf is not the people's problem but it is the matter of some political personalities, which had become personal. The political parties should focus their attention on purging the menace of corruption, terrorism, extremism and other social evils from the society for putting the country on right track.
The political leaders should change their attitude towards the betterment of the masses and development of the country. The uppermost duty of the elected representatives is that they should focus their attention on strengthening the democratic institutions, bringing out the country from multifarious crisis and to ensure continuity and stability of national economy, social justice and legislation on floor crossing.
