NWFP Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti has said that the provincial government presented a balanced, surplus and poor-friendly budget despite numerous challenges and financial problems within a short span of two and a half months of their rule.
"We are focusing on collective and uniform development of the people of the province and the budget was highly reflective of the masses aspirations," Hoti claimed during informal talks with members of provincial assembly at the premises of the NWFP Assembly building during an interval on Saturday.
After coming into power, Hoti said, the provincial government first taken into confidence all the political parties to resolve the core issue of insecurity and law and order situation in the province and practical measures were initiated to rid the people of the troublesome situation.
Chief minister said that the environment of peace was established in the province as a result of successful peace jirgas and negotiations, adding their efforts for peace would result into brining peace in the entire country. "We unveiled the real face of Pakhtun to the world, who in no way is a terrorist nation," Hoti added.
Haider Khan Hoti said that practical measures were taken to protect the lives and properties of people which was the top most priority of the government. He further said that police and other law enforcing agencies will be strengthened through giving them latest weapons, communication system and renewed infrastructure in order to enable them cope with any untoward situation and face the challenges with courage. "A 27 percent increase in the police budget is reflective of our intention to boost the force," Hoti added.
Hoti said that with peace and normalcy in the region, foreign investors would be encouraged to invest in the province, which would result into reducing the ratio of poverty and unemployment. With a sum of Rs 1 billion, a project has been launched to provide the poor and destitute free health facilities and also to impart them training in various skills.
