Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has approved provision of free education to the children of police personnel. National Police Bureau Director General Tariq Mohammad Khosa stated this while talking to the agency here on Sunday.
He said that similarly the ration allowance has been increased from Rs 380 to Rs 830, adding the government would also set up a gender crime centre to check violence against women.
He said that solid steps are being taken for improving the performance of police. The government would provide free education to the children of police personnel and now their children would get free education in the colleges and universities, he added.
To a question, Tariq Mohammad Khosa said that 3,200 people would be recruited in the police force. Giving details he said that 10,000 jawans would be appointed in Islamabad police, 15,000 in Sindh and 7,500 people would be recruited in the NWFP. He said that the recruitment would be completed phase-wise in two years. He said the new government has controlled the terrorism through negotiations, adding that 50 percent bomb blasts and 80 percent suicide attacks have been reduced. He expressed the hope that very soon peace would be maintained in the country.
To a query about the gender crisis centre, Tariq Mohammad Khosa said the DIG rank officer would look after the centre while members for the centre have been taken from centre and provinces. He said the members of the centre would meet after every two months and the performance the crisis centre would be examined.-NNI
