While political appointments have been made by every government, the success or failure depends whether merit has played any role in the choice made. Recent appointments made by the PPP in Sindh Public Service Commission, KPT, PIA etc have made a mockery of merit. The sole criteria seems to be that individuals selected for key assignments are close unelected leaders of PPP.
In some cases these individuals have very controversial backgrounds and have no administrative experience nor possess minimal academic qualifications that qualify for these executive assignments. It seems that lessons have not been learnt in spite of the ordeal that PPP, PML (N) and other democratic parties have undergone.
State organisations have already suffered due to mismanagement by wrong choices of persons assigned to head these organisations during the last eight years. The coalition government ruling Pakistan must be careful and not get carried away by euphoria and slogans raised by sycophants. Problems that confront state owned organisations are very complicated and only competent persons with impeccable record of integrity can resolve them.
