The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) is holding a cash award ceremony in honour of medal winners of the 10th South Asian Games-2006 in Islamabad on Wednesday (June 25). Federal Sports Minister Najamuddin Khan would be the chief guest and give cash awards to the medal winners as well as coaches, a spokesman for the Punjab Sports Board said here on Monday.
It may be mentioned that the 10th South Asian Games-2006 were organised in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from August 18 to 28, 2006. All the eight-member countries, including Pakistan participated in the Games.
He said Pakistan contingent took part in 19 disciplines comprising 282 sports persons and 94 officials. The Pakistan team performed creditably well and secured second position by winning 41-Gold, 43 Silver and 72-Bronze medals. The ceremony is aimed at promoting various games by honouring those who earned good name for the country, the spokesman said.
