Chief of the Awami Muslim League, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that ruling coalition is likely to split up before the 90-day deadline he had earlier set, saying that rifts between PML-N and PPP are widening with a passage of every day.
Talking to newsmen, after a meeting with the MQM Deputy Convenor Farooq Sattar and other local leaders at nine-zero on Wednesday, Rashid said he favours the reinstatement of deposed CJ Chaudhry Iftikhar but added he is also one of the judges who took oath under the PCO.
He criticised the PPP-led government for its failure to fulfil its 100-day agenda. There is no clear policy from the government after a passage of 100-day in the assembly, he added.
About coalition collapse, he said that he had already set a 90-day deadline for the coalition to fall but "it is likely to happen in 45 days". Expressing fears, Rashid said that Pakistan is going towards isolation in the world community, as the OIC has also expressed similar apprehensions about it.
Rashid said that Pakistan's state of economy is deteriorating and the country is likely to fall in severe economic crisis. He maintained that government has failed to chalk out a plan for the development of the economy. He said that the government is not sincere in settling the issue of judiciary rather it is politicising the matter.
About impeachment of President Pervez Musharraf, Rashid said the government still lacks required number of votes in the National Assembly to impeach the President. Farooq Sattar urged the political parties to jointly resolve the national issues. He said government should take notice of rising inflation and unemployment in the country and resolve them on priority basis.
