Managing Director National Engineering Services Pakistan (Nespak) Karamat Ullah Chaudhry has said that Nespak has acquired business of over Rs 5 billion in 2006-07 which is an all-time record. He attributed this success to his engineers, professionals, technical and non-technical staff and due to the support of the Ministry of Water and Power.
According to the press release issued here he also stated that (Nespak), a state owned organisation of consulting engineers, has extended its services to 35 countries of the world where it has been providing high quality engineering services to the full satisfaction of its home and foreign clients.
Referring to the financial health of the company, the Nespak chief said that it started its operations with a capital outlay of Rs 500,000. The company paid to the government over Rs 348 million in the form of taxes and dividend up to June 30, 2007.
he company's total earning from May 1973 to June 2007 was Rs 18,138 million and its profit before tax during this period was Rs 1,750 million. It has consistently shown profits every year after successfully competing with the best in the world, both technically and financially, he said.
Reviewing the progress of Nespak during the last 35 years of its establishment, he said that the company undertook 2,810 projects at home and abroad, out of which 2,430 have been completed. It is now working on 313 domestic and 65 foreign projects, he added.
Chaudry said that after 35 years of dedicated service to the nation and other countries of the Middle East, Far East, Central Asia and Africa, Nespak has emerged as one of the largest and experienced firms of consulting engineers in the developing countries. "As a result of its outstanding services. it is now known as "Ambassador of Pakistan" in all these countries", he said.
Chaudhry expressed satisfaction on the engineering consultancy profession in Pakistan, which is now fairly mature, and a number of experienced indigenous firms have been established in the private sector in the country. These companies are doing work of quality and standard which previously was the domain of the expatriate consultants.
