All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Wednesday said that Indo-Pak round of talks on Kashmir would be held next month. He stated this while talking to newsmen during his visit to Mazar-e-Iqbal and Badshahi Mosque along with Professor Abdul Ghani Bhat and Bilal Ghani Lone on Wednesday today.
Mirwaiz said that meetings of the APHC delegation with Pakistani high-ups remained fruitful and the 'Government of Pakistan had assured that negotiations on solid basis will be started from next month with the Indian authorities for the resolution of Kashmir dispute'. He was of the view that India needs to show flexibility in its attitude for the resolution of Kashmir problem. "Neither the issue could be resolved through the use of force in the past nor use of force would provide any solution in future", he said.
He stressed the need for holding roundtable conferences of Kashmiri leadership of all divided parts of state in occupied Srinagar and Muzaffarabad, which will help them to develop consensus approach on the Kashmir issue. He said the first round of this roundtable conference of Kashmiri leaders will be held in Muzaffarabad while its second round will be held in occupied Srinagar. He said Islamabad would request New Delhi for holding the second round of this conference in occupied Srinagar.
Mirwaiz Umer Farooq also said Kashmiris are basic party to Kashmir dispute and they could play the role of bridge between India and Pakistan to end six-decade-old enmity. However, he said both the Indian and Pakistani governments need to adopt effective strategy with regard to Kashmir dispute.
He also asked the human rights organisations and international forces to take notice of gross violations of human rights in occupied Kashmir. The Kashmiri leaders also visited Mazar-e-Iqbal and offered fateha for the eternal peace of great philosopher and poet of the East. They also recorded their remarks in the visitor's book.
