District Nazim Mian Amir has said his government will make a rehabilitation centre for addicts in the Sayyed Mitha Bazaar at an estimated cost of Rs 10 million. He told a rally on the "Narcotics Day" organised by the Anti-Narcotics Force that up to 4 million people were addicted to drugs in Pakistan and a majority of them were young.
He told social welfare organisations to start an awareness campaign. Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director General Irfan Ali has ordered to cover manholes located in the Water and Sanitation Authority service area.
He also told them to deal with people's problems on drains. Directors and deputy directors met the complainants personally following the LDA's director general's order redressed their grievances. Managing Director Wasa Javaid Iqbal and other officers were also present.
