The budget session of District Council Jhelum for the financial year 2008-09 was held here on Saturday. District Nazim, Chaudhary Farrukh Altaf presented the tax-free budget amounting Rs 2556.3 million for the next financial year. Out of the total budget, Rs 1591.9 million will be earmarked for salaries of district employees. An amount of Rs 907.27 million have been fixed for development works.
Moreover, Rs 66.1 million will be allocated for the current development projects. District Nazim told the session that Rs 153.7 million have been set aside under the Citizen Community Board for development works.
The other allocations include Rs 35.7 million for communications, Rs 170 million for education sector, Rs 29.8 million for Health, Rs 21.5 million for Literacy Programme and Rs 10 million for the development of agriculture sector. Later, the House unanimously approved the budget for the next financial year.
