Presently weather situation across the country has given the sign of 'Happy Monsoon', especially for the areas where the sowing of crops had started or was about to start. It is expected that the early monsoon, which approached different parts of the country, would create positive impact on the agriculture sector.
Director Forecasting, National Weather Forecasting Centre Akram Anjum told that normal monsoon rains would occur this summer across the country. However, above normal rains would occur in eastern parts of the country, including Southern Punjab and Sindh.
He informed that the ongoing rain spell would benefit the Kharif crop, which was on the early stage of growth. Especially, he said in Potohar and the Northern Areas, Kharif crop would be sown on vast area this year.
The ongoing rain spell would also help increase water in reservoirs, he added. It is hoped that the excessive rains would benefit the crops of Soyabean, Groundnut, Jowar, Bajra and Pulses. According to met office, thunderstorm and rain with isolated heavy falls is expected at scattered places of Upper Punjab including Islamabad during next 2 days.
Monsoon currents, according to met analysis, are reaching upper parts of the country. A westerly trough is also affecting Northern parts of the country. While seasonal low persist over Northern Balochistan. This weather pattern is likely to persist for another 48 hours.
In Upper NWFP, Northern Areas and Kashmir including earthquake affected areas thunderstorm and rain with isolated heavy falls would occur at scattered places of Kashmir during next 02 days. However, hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of the Sindh and Balochistan province during next few days.
