The Estate Management Directorate of Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on Tuesday retrieved a total of 15 plots in Johar Town and Gulshan-e-Ravi areas from illegal occupation.
According to a LDA spokesman, during its ongoing drive against land grabbers, the staff visited various blocks of Johar Town and inspected ownership documents of buildings being constructed there.
On scrutiny, documents of nine plots were found either fake or incomplete. The staff managed to stop construction on these plots. The staff also demolished boundary walls that had been illegally constructed on plot numbers 45, 46, 47 and 48 in R-2 Block of Johar Town, and retrieved those plots from illegal occupants.
They also retrieved another two plots in "A" Block, Gulshan-e-Ravi, bearing numbers 650 and 1059. In another operation, the staff of the Estate Management Directorate cleared large tracts of land of shanties and squatters in "H" and "P" Blocks of Sabzazar Housing Scheme.
More than 800 shanties and other illegal constructions were removed in these blocks. A similar operation has also been launched in "A" and "D" blocks of Sabzazar Scheme.
The staff also removed as many as 300 squatters in "H" Block and more than 500 shanties in "P" Block. They had to face severe resistance during the operation, but the operation was completed successfully. Meanwhile, the Estate Management Directorate has issued demolition notices to owners of more than 45 illegal constructions in Liaquat Chowk, Sabzazar. They have been asked to remove their encroachments within two days, otherwise action will be taken against them.
