Kashmir liberation: AJK Jamaat-i-Islami leader opposes Pakistan's policy of pleasing India

Strong and stable Pakistan is the guarantee for the liberation of Kashmir and people of Kashmir want to see Pakistan out of the present political and economic crisis, said Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Jama'at-e-Islami Amir Abdul Rasheed Turabi here on Wednesday.
Pakistani leadership should give up the attitude of pleasing Indians by making unrealistic statements on Kashmir issue and stick to the national stand, seeking the right of self-determination for Kashmiris, Turabi said in a press conference.
He rejected the claims of peace and normalcy between Pakistan and India, saying that until Kashmir issue was resolved as per the wishes and aspirations of Kashmiri people, peace would remain a dream.
"Kashmir is main issue of tension between two nuclear powers of South Asia and without resolving this issue, one cannot expect peace", he added. He called upon world community to play its effective role for solution of Kashmir issue if it wanted complete peace in the region.
Turabi criticised the statements made by Co Chairman of ruling Pakistan Peoples Party Asif Zardari, and said "These statements have, no doubt pleased Indians, but tantamount to salt rubbing on the wounds of Kashmiris, who have high hopes with Pakistan".
He said that Kashmiris were striving for their basic right of self-determination as per the United Nations resolutions, but the scenario changed after 9/11. India had exploited the post 9/11 situation and hatched a conspiracy against the just liberation movement of Kashmiri people, he said, adding that it was the responsibility of Pakistani leadership to popularise the Kashmir liberation movement to world.
"Musharraf's policy after 9/11 has somewhat backtracked the Kashmir cause and gave Indians the space to misguide world on Kashmir and dubbed the liberation movement as acts of terrorism," Turabi said, adding that the movement launched in 1988 against Indian repression brought Kashmir out of the freezer. "Kashmiris are still looking towards Pakistan with the hope that their case will be pleaded in world community forcefully," he said.
Turabi condemned the brutalities of Indians in occupied Kashmir, and said that world community and human rights bodies should take stock of the situation and force India to stop these repressive acts.
