Five people were killed and seven injured in fresh clashes between rival groups in Tirah Valley, a private TV channel reported. On the sixth day of the ongoing violence in the area, shops were closed in Bara Bazar following reports of curfew imposition.
In Swat, Central Amir of Tehrik-e-Taliban Baitullah Mehsud has directed the militants to continue dialogue process with the provincial government, a private TV channel said. The spokesman of Swat Tehrik-e-Taliban Haji Muslim Khan said, "we will carry on our efforts to maintain law and order situation in Swat." He said his organisation would welcome every positive step to bring peace in the area.
He urged upon the government to take immediate steps for withdrawal of troops, release of Taliban prisoners and compensation of their losses. Some 20 tribal elders after holding talks with political administrations have left for Tirah valley to hold talks with Mangal Bagh.
Security forces have closed Shaikhan Bara for all kind of activities and are patrolling different areas of Khyber agency. US unmanned spy planes flew over the areas of South Waziristan time and again on Thursday, causing panic in the area, the channel said. Security forces have also established check posts in Mithra near Peshawar, the channel added.
