Pakistan Muslim League-Q leaders Rai Mansab Ali Khan an ex-MPA, Babu Muhammad Akram Ansari the President of the Labour wing and Rana Muhammad Hafeez have issued a blistering condemnation of the coalition government's progress in their first hundred days.
They added that electricity and gas tariffs have increased by 33 percent, vegetable ghee in utility stores by 80 percent, rice by 100 percent, petroleum products by 25 to 40 percent, and flour 25 percent in this period. There would be starvation, hunger, poverty, lawlessness, corruption and exploitation if this coalition stayed in power for another 100 days, they added.
In a statement, they said after the failure of this plan, the masses would be able to compare this performance to that of the previous PML-Q government. Berating the government for not paying adequate attention toward solving these issues, they added that the coalition partners had failed to deliver, while they lauded the opposition for playing a positive, constructive role.
They said the government, which touted tall claims of restoring the '99 level prices, had in fact even surpassed the inflation-ridden prices of January 2008, shredding the credibility and trust of The Murree Declaration and the Charter of Democracy, doing nothing for the welfare of the masses.
The slogan of the five Es has disappeared, even though the PML-Q government had handed over a sound economy to the interim government on November 15th they claimed. They further revealed the inflation figures of 22 per cent overall with 30 percent in food items and a 45 percent increase in oil.
On a separate note, they said that after the announcement of Yousaf Raza Gillani for the release of the deposed judges, it was fervently expected that a reinstatement judiciary would come into force within 30 days. They added that this has yet to happen and was an empty promise.
