Local traders and people from various walks of life staged a demonstration in Gulgasht Colony here on Friday, to protest against growing price hike. The demonstration was led by Arif Fasih Uddin. Anjuman-e-Tajiran Bosan Road and Gulgasht Colony organised the demonstration and shopkeepers and members of civil society largely attended it.
The demonstrators were carrying placards and also chanted slogans against government for its failure to control price hike. Addressing the demonstrators, Arif said that wheat flour, sugar, ghee, pulses and other articles of daily-use were not easily available to consumers.
He strongly condemned the government for increase in power tariff and gas prices. He threatened the government that the business community would be forced to observe sit-in and launch a movement, in case the government failed to control growing price hike and frequent load-shedding from 10 to 12 hours daily.
