Accountability Court on Friday adjourned the hearing on three corruption and money laundering references against Sharif brothers after the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) showed its ineffectiveness to deal the case under National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO).
The judge of the Accountability Court No 4, Khalid Mahmood resumed the hearing on the references against former premier Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and other seven members of the Sharif family.
The Deputy Prosecutor General (DPG) of the NAB, Zulfiqar Ahmed Bhutta appeared before the court and pleaded that the NAB has been engaged in dealing with various cases under NRO. "We have received no instruction regarding the dealing of corruption references against Sharif family under NRO," he said.
He said that only after receiving any directions from the higher authorities, the NAB will be in a position to present its stance before the learned court. He pleaded that the court may adjourn the hearing till next date. Accepting the plea, the judge adjourned the hearing till July 31 and asked the prosecution to clear the NAB position on these references.
