The Electricity Department of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Southern region, has asked Wapda to desist from ongoing frequent and unscheduled load shedding of electricity in various parts of AJK particularly in Chakswari/Kotli, official sources said.
Chief Engineer, AJK Electricity Department (South), Mirpur region, Tariq Mahmood when contacted, told APP on Friday that by defying all moral and legal norms, Wapda was observing unscheduled load shedding for hours on Chakswari/Kotli 132Kv circuits for the last 48 hours.
The Chief Engineer said when this office (CE) contacted concerned senior official of Wapda Sarwar Director / Incharge at Regional Control Centre, the latter not only flatly declined the request for the rectification of the situation, faced by the consumers in the area, in larger public interests but was also not ready to cooperate.
He was also apprised of the feelings of the minister about the intolerable situation. Tariq said that the senior Wapda officer was also informed that the consumers were too much frustrated over the long forced and unscheduled load shedding and were protesting and rather have threatened to move to the street agitation against forced and unscheduled load shedding.
