Singapore, Darren Choy of Singapore carries the torch before igniting the Youth Olympic Flame, during the opening ceremony of the inaugural Youth Olympic Games, at The Float @Marina Bay. The first ever Youth Olympic Games, held in Singapore, attracted 3,351 athletes between the ages of 14 and 18, nominated by 204 National Olympic Committees.

Adam Pretty began his career at the Sydney Morning Herald in 1997 as a news photographer. His desire to specialize in sport saw him move to Getty Images in 1998. While with Getty, he has worked out of Los Angeles, Sydney and Beijing, and is now located in Tokyo.
Pretty has photographed five Olympic Games, and covered assignments around the globe for magazines including Sports Illustrated, Life, Time, Marie Claire and Harper's Bazaar. Pretty has won a number of major international awards, and was a member of the 2010 World Press Photo Contest jury in Amsterdam. In 2007, in the quest for a new challenge, Pretty made the decision to shift from sports photography to advertising.
