The Karachi Port handled 161,528 tonnes of cargo including 117,606 tonnes of import, 43,922 tonnes of export cargo and 4,813 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Saturday.
The cargoes comprised of 97,454 tonnes of dry cargo including 68,481 tonnes of general cargo; 6,500 tonnes of fertilizer; 4,168 tonnes of coal; 9,470 tonnes of rock phosphate; 8,835 tonnes of cement and 64,074 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Four ships namely Grigoroussa-1, China Star, Lucky Arrow and Sari sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Five vessels viz Gulf Bridge, Orient Stride, Sp 5-Eric G Gibson, Golden Elizabeth and Guan He Kou are currently at the berths. Six ships namely Gulf Bridge, Bolan, Vinashin Melody, Sp 5-Eric G Gibson, Sea Princess and OEL Shreyas expected to sail on Saturday while another vessel viz Provider are expected to sail on Sunday.
Three vessels viz OEL Shreyas, Arnis and Super Star-II due to arrive on Saturday while twelve ships namely MT Johar, Golden Nori, Wan Hai-301, Jitra Bhum, Global Prosperity, Cosco Dammam, Thuringia Express, Mare Threcium, Kapitan Byankin, Bunga Teratai Empat, Pacific Express and Iron Butterfly are due to arrive on Sunday.
The cargo comprised of 15,594 tonnes of furnace oil; 7,229 tonnes of wheat; 1,200 tonnes of chemicals; 9,961 tonnes of coal and 28,461 tonnes of containerised cargo. Two vessels viz Fair Dream and Al-Wajba sailed out to sea during last 24 hours while two more ships namely MV Alfa-K and Maersk Novazzano are expected to sail on Saturday.
A total of seven ships namely New Delhi Express, Sea Land Patriot, Arcadia, Sea Sky, Al-Salam-II and Kaghan carrying containers, coal, furnace oil, diesel oil and iron ore respectively are currently at the outer anchorage.
Six vessels viz MV Al-Wajba, Maersk Novazzano, MV Sirius, Alfa-K, MT Fair Dream and MV YM Cultivation are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, chemicals, wheat, furnace oil and coal respectively during the report period.
Two ships namely New Delhi Express and MV Al-Salam-II carrying containers and diesel oil are expected to take berths at Qasim International Container Terminal and Fotco Terminal respectively on Saturday. Five ships namely CV Inor, Lucien G A, Al-Soor-II, CS Crane and MT Qem Star carrying containers, diesel oil, palm oil and chemicals are due to arrive.
