The commodities were buyers friendly like, as the tempo that began with rapid stride in oil prices, has been pacified with groups, exports economists, and donors etc pleading for softer sentiment for majority who can hardly meet the liking trend during the week ended on July 5, 2008.
The commodities hit by fluctuations were wheat, rice, sugar, gur, makai. However, on Monday commodity wholesale markets were cautions, as fluctuations were only a few such as sugar, two way trend in world market, showed rise in Pakistan, it was quoted up by Rs 50 where traders preferred to remain mum instead of furnishing any reasons.
The better type, which had risen by Rs 50, reached Rs 2850 while the other type held to previous level. Gur, used generally by poor had risen by Rs 200 to Rs 2800 just Rs 50 below sugar for the same quantity, while the other type held to weekend level at Rs 1700.
Elsewhere plastic mouldings compound closed mixed such as HDPE (film- per Lb) Saudia-952 rose by Rs 4.50, to Rs 75.25. Mobil ended with same gains to Rs 75.50, and TR 144 rose by Rs 4.50 to Rs 75.50. HDPE (blow) Kuwait closed higher by Rs 4.50 to Rs 75.50. HDPE (injection) Sabic 200056 rose by Rs 6 to Rs 78, mobil 016 up by Rs 5 to Rs 77 and Iran rose by Rs 4.50 to Rs 76.50.
LDPE 374 rose by Re 1 to Rs 81 and MG 20 retreated by Rs 11 to Rs 85, LLDPE W118 rose by Rs 4 to Rs 82, and 7078 soared to Rs 4 and was quoted higher at Rs 82. Polypropylene (film) Thai moved higher by Rs 5 to Rs 80, Kuwait rose by Rs 5 to Rs 80 and India rose by Rs 5 to Rs 80. Polypropylene (Tape grade) India rose by Rs 4.50 to Rs 77, Kuwait up by Rs 4.50 to Rs 77. Polypropylene (injection grade) Saudia rose by Rs 5.25 to Rs 78, India rose by Rs 5.25 to Rs 78, Kuwait up by Rs 5.25 to Rs 78. Polypropylene Pakistan quoted at Rs 4053.
Copoly Block ended with a gain of Rs 6 to Rs 79. Random rose by Re 1 to Rs 85. High Impact (per bag) Pakistan quoted at Rs 4265, ABS polylac 707 rose by Rs 20 to Rs 4820 and Iran rose by Rs 100 to Rs 1750 while the inferior type held to previous level.
On Tuesday changes were marked in Juwar Makai, and wheat. Makai showed upward sharp rise by Rs 100 to Rs 1750, while the inferior type held to previous days level. Juwar was up by Rs 50 to Rs 1700, while the other type was put at Rs 1600. Wheat old and new type with bardana rose by Rs 100 to Rs 2425, while the other type was quoted at Rs 2440, Irri Sindh-6 was quoted by traders higher at Rs 3600, while the other type was unchanged at the previous level.
On Wednesday grams maintained upward March. The gram garda Punjab both inferior and fine qualities rose by Rs 100 from Rs 4400/4700 to Rs 4500/4800 and gram gards dal too was sharply higher from Rs 5000 to Rs 5300 to Rs 5400/5700. Yellow peas Canada low quality rose by Rs 50 to Rs 3850. Beetle chana I shed Rs 350 both varieties to Rs 4750 and Rs 5050, beetle 50x50 both types rose by Rs 50 to Rs 4600 and Rs 4900, dal beetle up Rs 200 to Rs 5500 and Rs 5800.
Elsewhere white pepper (40 Kg) ended down by Rs 400 to Rs 15,600, black pepper from Singapore down by Rs 100 to Rs 9500. Dry ginger (China) up by Rs 400 to Rs 4700, star Aniseed up Rs 200 to Rs 6200, cuminseed end up by Rs 400 to Rs 8200, darchini up Rs 50 to Rs 3850.
Cooking oil: Mezan 5 liter Rs 600, M 16 liter Rs 1950, Habib 5 liter 718, Dalda 5 liter Rs 723, Soya Supreme 5 liter Vegetable ghee: Rs 704, Mezan 5 Kilo Rs 650, Mezan 16 Kilo Rs 1905, Habib 5 Kilo 723, Dalda 5 kilo 726 and Soya Supreme 5 kilo Rs 714.
On Thursday, moong Punjab was sharply higher by Rs 250 at Rs 3750. Urad Burma was up by Rs 50 to Rs 1650-1850. Barley Sindh and Mardan followed same pattern and rose by Rs 100 to Rs 2300-2350. Guwar Sindh gained Rs 50 to Rs 2250-2400.Til low type was up by Rs 600 to Rs 5000 and good type was higher by Rs 700 to Rs 5200 and castorseed Lasbela ended with modest gain of Rs 25 to Rs 1200.
ON JODIA BAZAAR CHANGES WERE:
CHEMICALS (per kg): Sodium sulphate edged down by Re 1 to Rs 15, formic acid Pak moved lower by Re 1 to Rs 88 and formic acid Germany finished downward by Rs 5 to Rs 85.
PETROLEUM JELLY: Sulphonic acid Hard (DDBSA) moved lower by Re 1 at Rs 134, PVA Japan edged down by Re 1 at Rs 252 and Sitara caustic soda flakes went lower by Re 1 at Rs 55.
HYDROSULPHITE: China 88 percent moved down by Re 1 at Rs 120 and Germany went lower by Re 1 at Rs 142.
ACETIC ACID: Taiwan edged up by 80 paisa at Rs 91 and Korea was quoted at Rs 90. On Friday no price change in seeds and grain was reported, as usual.
On Jodia Bazaar on Friday the variation were: DYES NAPHTHOLS CHINA (per pound): AS 100 percent moved higher by Rs 50 to Rs 200, AS 80 percent went up by Rs 45 to Rs 175 and ASBS 100 percent went higher by Rs 40 to Rs 220. BASES CHINA: Blue BB closed higher by 50 to Rs 450, Scarlet G went up by Rs 40 to Rs 150, Red RC 100 percent finished upward by Rs 10 to Rs 135. Bordeaux GP moved up by Rs 5 to Rs 190, Orange GC finished higher by Rs 15 to Rs 200. Red B closed up by Rs 70 to Rs 270 and Gamet GBC moved higher by Rs 10 to Rs 120.
On Saturday as most of the commodity items held the overnight levels.
The feature of the week was that wheat prices were not quoted but dealers expect that prices may show increase. A solo change was seen with sugar prices, gaining Rs 50 to Rs 2750-2900.
In trading Kirana items on Jodia Bazaar on Saturday changes were: ITEMS (per 40kgs): Mace edged up by Rs 1,400 to Rs 28,800 Nutmeg moved higher by 800 to Rs 12,400, cloves finished up by Rs 2,500 to Rs 17,000, Isbaghol Bhoosi moved upward by Rs 500 to Rs 16,500 and cuminseed went higher by Rs 500 to Rs 8,700.
