The Divisional Superintendent of Railway Karachi, Mir Muhammad Khaskheli has said that the railway needs Rs137 million to resume the train communication lying defunct for the last 10 years. He informed Business Recorder on Sunday that the railway is a national department and the people of Badin stands together with the department to develop it further.
Presently, the department is changing 80 kilometre long track and so far 13,500 sleepers have reached while 33,000 additional sleepers are required, he said. Moreover, three towers each for amount of Rs3, 00,000 are being installed in the Badin, Talhar and Matli. The materials for new towers have already been procured and the construction will be completed within a month.
For the track of Badin, 50 to 150 gagmen have been appointed to complete the track within a three-month period. Meanwhile, the railway department has decided to run train daily while its Hyderabad workshop has manufactured special bogies for the train.
