Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer said on Monday the coalition government of the Pakistan People's Party and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz in Punjab was moving forward successfully, despite of the fact that both had no experience of such a coalition in the past.
Addressing an "Open House" at Governor's House here, Taseer said the issues being faced by the country could not be resolved single handedly by one person, hence both the coalition partners would have to move ahead without considering that the path ahead was difficult or easy.
About his meeting with PPP Co-Chairman Asif Zardari in Dubai, he said in the meeting political issues, party matters and other matters were discussed. He said that exchange of political ideas and struggle was necessary for strengthening the party and achieving political stability in the country.
He further said that he visited Sindh and exchanged views on making joint efforts to strengthen provincial harmony among the federating units. He added that provincial harmony was the need of the hour and the PPP was making all out efforts to strengthen the federation.
Taseer said a vast majority of Pakistanis wanted see democracy flourished in the country as solution of the problems. He said that the PPP would continue its efforts to advance the democratic process and ensure success of the coalition government.
He said that doors of the Governor's House were open for everybody and not merely for the PPP workers. He added that a complaint redressal system had been set up at the Governor's House and 40 percent of the complaints received so far had been redressed.
Taseer said that he would keep on struggling to strengthen the PPP in Punjab, and added that the PPP believed in believed in workers rights as well as in the struggle for the materialisation of these rights. A delegation of PPP workers and leaders from Multan, led by Mukhtar Awan, Nargis Awan and Khurshid Ahmed Khan, were also present.
