The Technology Up-gradation and Skill Development Company is planning to set up PLC-Industrial Automation Training Institute to produce work force for the industrial sector trained in operation, installation, maintenance of PLC-equipped machines and equipment.
Graduates will also be able to assist in automation of existing industrial plants and equipment through in depth knowledge of PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) and Automation System design. According to a Tusdec spokesman, the industry in Pakistan is lacking in skilled manpower possessing requisite knowledge of PLCs and Automation and in particular the ability to suggest, design and install automation solutions.
He emphasised that industry needs to join hands with Tusdec to help accurately target and identify the need and gap so that the institute can provide manpower to programme, trouble-shoot, maintain and design automation systems meeting the particular needs on a factory. This two-pronged approach is expected to fill the current gap in PLC and Industrial Automation by providing trained manpower and help upgrade industrial units.
