The Azad Jammu and Kashmire (AJK) government has directed the heads of all nation-building departments to utilise all possible available resources and to ensure timely completion of development projects of public welfare, official sources said.
The sources told APP here on Tuesday that the government has also directed the heads of various departments to redress the grievances of the common man by resolving the issues within minimum possible time.
The AJK government has also warned the departments that the higher authorities would be constrained to dispense the services of those officials found responsible of the negligence in resolving the public problems. The government officials defying the government orders to this direction will have to face the punitive action for dereliction of duties.
The AJK government has, meanwhile, directed Mirpur Development Authority (MDA), Municipal Corporation and District Council Mirpur to immediately move for extending all possible civic amenities to the citizens of Mirpur. The government has ordered for immediate installation of streetlights in all major and link streets in Mirpur city besides the completion of children and other recreation parks.
It may be added that in response to the directives given by the state Prime Minister Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan, Mirpur Development Authority's Chairman, Dr Amin Chaudhry has started getting the solar-energy-oriented street lights installed on major city streets under a phased program.
In an interview to APP Tuesday, Dr Amin Chaudhry said that the installation of the solar-energy-based street lights on Hall road is the pilot project of the MDA. He said that in the ongoing energy-crises, the installation of the street lights of solar energy would not only help in saving energy but would also provide light in all the city streets.
The AJK forest and agriculture departments have also been directed to implement his governments slogan of green and skilled Kashmir in letter and spirit. The government officials have been strictly advised to perform their duties with missionary zeal and focus for timely achieving the development targets fixed by the state administration.
In order to promote the sport activities including first class cricket in the area, the AJK government has already decided to set up Kashmir Cricket Board for promoting the first class cricket in AJK where a world-standard Quaid-e-Azam International Sport Stadium is already available in the model city of Mirpur.
The sources further said that the AJK government was determined to turn Mirpur into a most attractive and model city of international repute through the uplift of tourism sector in the area where a most conducive and peaceful atmosphere was available for the purpose.
To materialise the dream into a reality, the government is intended to hold an international investment conference in Mirpur soon which, the sources added, would indeed help in to promote the foreign investment in the trade and industrial sector in the area.
Gearing up of business and economic activities in the area may lead to the overall socio-economic uplift and to raise the living style of the common man in AJK, the sources concluded while referring to the priorities of the government.
