Sheikhupura Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Mian Muhammad Yousaf has criticised Yawar Irfan's appointment as Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC) Chairman, demanding that the Punjab chief minister to cancel his appointment.
Yousaf told Business Recorder on Friday that he had urged the chief minister to take elected representatives and office-bearers into confidence before it appointed a chief. He said Irfan was an unknown person for trade and industrial associations. "If the appointment against this slot was necessary from the private sector, it should have been from the real and true representatives of industrial associations," he added.
He also said he had consulted Lahore, Gujranwala and Gujrat Chamber of Commerce and Industries giving him assurances that they would back him to protest this appointment. "The Lahore business community has defeated Irfan's group in the chamber elections four times and thus Yawar Irfan, who is a legacy of President Pervez Musharraf as the PSCI chief is a matter of serious concern for businessmen," he added.
