The Opposition in Azad Jammu Kashmir Assembly along with 16 members of ruling Muslim Conference will table no-confidence move against Prime Minister Ateeq for in-house change in AJK Assembly, said Sultan Mehmood, President of People's Muslim League (PML) here on Friday.
"We are busy in consultation to make sure that dissolution of the Assembly is a must after worst rigging, and will demand fresh elections in AJK. But if this will not happen, in-house change will be the last option", he said at a press conference. MLA of PML, Gulzar Fatima, was also present.
"Pakistan has snatched the right to rule from Kashmiri people as on July 11 President of Pakistan and Chief of Army Staff directly indulged in mass scale rigging to install a puppet regime," Sultan said, adding that these sham elections have caused a big dent in the Pakistan body politic along with liberation movement of Kashmir. Pakistan provided India a chance to criticise AJK elections.
AJK political parties have decided to strive to restore their confidence in institutions by throwing this government out of power, he said. This unpopular government has indulged in corruption and bungling of funds provided for rehabilitation and reconstruction of earthquake affectees, he said, adding that it has misappropriated more than Rs 5 billion in last two years including Rs 2 billion funds for forest development. Besides, it has ruthlessly looted the money donated by people for earthquake affectees.
He said that use of substandard material in Mangla Dam is very dangerous, which may cause havoc for the people. He said Mangla Upraising Project was a source of money minting for Ateeq and company, while affectees of Mangla Dam are not being paid compensation. He said that officers of their own choice were being deputed to get results of their own choice from this mega project of national interest.
The PML chief said that main the cause of rigging in AJK and installation of Ateeq government was to facilitate the moves for division of Kashmir to please India and make 4-point formula of Musharraf viable. Kashmiri people, he said, would not allow any division of state and anyone who tried to facilitate this would be punished.
He said that there were some positive traditions in AJK institutions and these institutions, including Assembly, judiciary and executive, were being respected in and outside AJK. But this government has ruined these institutions by installing its favourites unconstitutionally. "Acting Election Commissioner, who managed rigging, was appointed as Chief Justice of Supreme Court as a reward, while on the other hand Chief Justice of High Court is working on ad hoc basis for one and a half years", he said. Sultan said that united opposition has decided to continue people's contact move all over AJK to prepare them for new elections.
