Since its humble beginning in 1837 Procter and Gamble has grown rapidly to become one of the prestigious names in the FMCG sector. Many P&G brands, including Ariel, Safeguard, Pantene, Head & Shoulders, Pampers and Always, have become famous household names in Pakistan today.
Since it's inception in 1991, P&G Pakistan, has grown to be one of the leading consumer product companies serving the Pakistani consumers with 12 high quality brands. Over the past 16 years Pakistanis have trusted us to improve their everyday lives.
With commitment comes growth. Three years after establishment in Pakistan P&G acquired a soap-manufacturing facility sprawling over 7-acres of land at Hub, Balochistan in 1994. By 2002 the plant tripled its soap manufacturing capacity with an additional investment of $3 million.
In 2004, the Company made an initial investment of about half a million US dollars to establish a PuR- water purifier, manufacturing facility equipped with state-of-the-art manufacturing technology and quality assurance processes and systems.
With a production capacity of 50 million sachets annually, the P&G Pakistan Hub Plant is the only P&G plant in the world that produces PuR. This not only meets local needs of safe drinking water but is also exported to a host of countries including Australia, Chad, Congo, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Ethiopia, Haiti, Indonesia, India, Kenya, Malawi, UAE and Uganda.
Procter & Gamble Pakistan as its continued commitment intends to build another plant and for this has recently acquired a 25 acre plot of land in Port Qasim, Sindh for production of a range of products.
The plant will create employment opportunities for 700+ Pakistanis, increasing each year and indirectly creating 7000 jobs through contract and distributor networks. In addition to bringing in latest P&G technology, the plant will support local skill development as P&G experts from other countries will train Pakistanis.
As a company with vast global experience, P&G has always believed in the potential Pakistan has as a country. Since 1989, the total amount invested by Procter & Gamble Pakistan in assets, working capital and market development exceeds Rs 6 billion. In addition, Procter & Gamble contributed Rs 3.6 billion to the national exchequer in the form of duties and taxes during 2006-07; increasing 16% over the previous year.
Moreover, P&G has attracted outstanding individuals since the day it began operations in Pakistan. The company employs approximately 300 people of whom 99% are Pakistanis and creates more than 4,000 jobs through distribution networks. Additionally P&G's 'promote from within' culture provides remarkable career opportunities across the globe. To date more than 40 P&G Pakistan employees are working in leadership positions in countries around the world.

Through the Pampers Clinics, Safeguard and Always education programs, school rehabilitation project with READ in earthquake areas of Muzzafarabad and the informal school program with HOPE in Karachi and Thatta P&G Pakistan has touched the lives of more than 5 million Pakistanis last year and these endeavours make P&G a more locally focused company.
