The legal fraternity can give a fresh call for 'long march' after having consultation with the community at All Pakistan Lawyers Representative Conference, on July 19 at Lahore, said Chaudhry Amin Javed, Secretary, Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), here on Monday.
Addressing the media at Supreme Court, he said that the executive committee of the association would meet in Lahore on July 18, in order to streamline lawyers for a decisive move to press the government for reinstatement of the deposed Judges.
On July 19, All Pakistan Lawyers Representative conference would take place in Lahore to discuss and formulate future plan of action. The decision for 'long march' is also likely, he added.
He said that lawyers' movement has not ended as it is being propagated among the masses by some evil forces and is not in favour of reinstatement of the deposed judges. He said that we are striving for the supremacy of the constitution and rule of law. In order to achieve these objectives lawyers movement is crucial.
'Lawyers' movement would pave the way for averting any Martial Law in future', he added. He said that the legal community is pressing the government in a peaceful manner. 'If needed, the lawyers would not remain peaceful and have the option to lock the courts', he added. Commenting on Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar's address at bar associations, he said that action would be taken against bar association which would invite the CJ for an address.
He said that the government should fulfil its commitment with the nation of reinstating deposed judges through an executive order. The slain leader Benazir Bhutto had said that Iftikhar Chaudhry is Chief Justice of Pakistan and she herself would hoist the national flag at his residence. The government should not delay any further and address the issue according to its commitment made in the Murree Accord, he added.
