LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday said energy projects were being speedily executed throughout the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad nawaz Sharif.

He made the remarks during a meeting with assembly members belonging to Bahawalpur division here.

During the meeting, budget proposals, public peace, development schemes, wheat procurement campaign and Ramazan Package came under discussion.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said record funds had been allocated for development schemes in the budget of the next financial year. He added that darkness would be removed forever with the completion of power projects.

The CM said solar energy plants of 400-megawatt had been set up at Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park Bahawalpur while a Turkish company was establishing a 300-megawatt solar power plant. He said a new world had been settled with the installation of energy projects in the desert of Bahawalpur while Sahiwal Coal Power Project which was the biggest coal project and first CPEC project was generating 1320-MW electricity.

The chief minister said with the completion of energy projects, the promise of elimination of loadshedding made by the prime minister to the people would be fulfilled.

He said effective steps had been taken for purging the country of menace of terrorism and extremism and added that Pakistan Army, police, officers of security institutions, youth, children and the citizens had rendered sacrifices in the war against terrorism.

He said that operation Radd-ul-Fasaad was moving forward against enemies of Pakistan successfully. He expressed the hope that terrorism would be completely eliminated from the country and Pakistan will become a haven of peace.

Shehbaz Sharif said Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Programme had brought a revolution in rural lifestyle and said that such a splendid project was never made in 70 years history of the country.

He said this project was a masterpiece of quality, transparency and speedy completion. He said Rs 65 billion had been spent on this excellent programme of construction and rehabilitation of rural roads. He said Rs 17 billion had been earmarked for this program in the budget.

He said steps taken for the promotion of agriculture and prosperity of farmers had proved fruitful. He said record production of wheat had obtained this year due to subsidy of billions of rupees on fertilizers, electricity tariff and agriculture implements and farmer had become prosperous due to the steps for the promotion of agriculture.

He said interest-free loans were being given to small farmers in the history of the country and a mega program of Saaf Pani was being launched from all tehsils of south Punjab. Shehbaz Sharif said that Rs 25 billion had been allocated for this program in the budget.

The CM said that four European companies and a Japanese company were conducting survey of the entire area. He said that a grand road had been constructed at cost of billions of rupees from Bahawalpur to Hasilpur while work had been started on the project of construction of dual road from Khanewal to Lodhran.

The chief minister announced to give Astroturf for promoting hockey in Bahawalpur and directed Secretary Schools Education to visit Cholistan and resolve problems of schools there.

The chief minister said elected representatives should utilize all their capabilities for resolving problems of people by keeping a close contact with them.

The assembly members thanked the chief minister on taking personal interest in the development of south Punjab and he had won hearts of the people by completing development projects of billions of rupees there.

Provincial ministers Malik Iqbal Channer, Ch Muhammad Shafique, Member National Assembly Hamza Shehbaz and administrative and police officers were also present.
