Greenstar Social Marketing Pakistan is a partner in the USAID funded Pakistan Initiative for Mothers and New-borns (PAIMAN). Working with the private health care providers, Greenstar is focusing to improve maternal and new-born health services by giving training to 550 lady doctors and LHVs in emergency obstetric care and franchising their clinic under Good Life Logo.
Dr Haris Ahmed, Senior Program Manager for Greenstar shared these achievements with the district government representatives from Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, NWFP and Fata, in a seminar highlighting the importance of public and private partnership.
The seminar was attended by representatives from USAID mission in Pakistan, John Snow Inc. Population Council and Contech international. Dr Hans explained that Greenstar has introduced a number of innovations in this project one of which is SMS enterprise system, where providers send in their weekly activity reports on SMS to Greenstar data base. Greenstar is launching maternal voucher scheme in D.G Khan where 2000 pregnant women from poor and deprived households will be provided vouchers for free services which include free delivery in Good Life clinics.
Greenstar launched the birth preparedness campaign and showed a Docudrama prepared for the community. Dr Hans informed the participants that Greenstar has given training to 42 tertiary care providers in the private sector at PIMS Islamabad, which is first of its kind in Pakistan. Lauren Mueenuddin, Deputy Chief of Party for PAIMAN, concluded the seminar by a vote of thanks and appreciated Greenstar for its role in PAIMAN.-PR
